Joy & Pain

It is incredible how my emotions have been so low and so high. Today, slowly walking up to the office, was our director of security that we had not heard from. Oh the joy to see that He was alive! We feared he was dead. We hugged and as the tears came rolling down his face, a former military man that has not shed many tears in his life, he told me of his four children and niece that died as his house fell.

Oh What Pain.

I can not imagine what he is feeling. I talk to staff here at MOH and many have lost family and friends. Others are still missing. There is so much pain throughout Haiti, but the amazing thing is people are singing and praising God. Many people at night get together and thank Jesus for life. I just can not imagine what they must be feeling.

We are sending food and medical teams out to serve the people of this nation. Today we will distribute over 100,000 meals. In the coming days we plan to distribute food, tents, and water. We have large church in Port au Prince where our medical teams are now working.

Please pray for the ports to open so we can get aid into Haiti. We have those willing to send aid but all the ports are broken at this point. The airspace is too crowded for many planes to come. Praise God we have 18 days of fuel and over 1 million meals to give out. Please pray for our water needs. We are transporting water right now for the MOH base, but diesel fuel is hard to find. It is needed to transport both the water and food. I know that God will provide. His word tells us that if we seek his Kingdom first, our needs will be provided. God will provide!

Thanks for your many prayers. Our days are very long here but we are honored to serve the Lord in Haiti. If you can, please help us financially. The efforts are costing us a great deal of funds and resources we had stored, but the need is so great we must be obedient with what we have here at MOH to help those in need.

  1. I am also a HU alumni (1998). I am currently in California reading 2 blogs of what is going on in Haiti. My church has sent groups to Child Hope Ministries in Haiti. They run Maison de Lumiere Orphanage. They currently have a clinic set up as well and Praise God suffered very little damage to their facility. However they are in need of critical medical supplies. They are asking people to get the word out. As I read your blog I realized you might have connections that they don't. Here is their contact information. I know this might not be the best way to get this info to you, but didn't know how else to connect the two of you, if possible. Here is their blog I will pass on yours to them as well. Thank you. Nichole Merrill

  2. Brad and MOH Staff in Haiti -

We love you and are praying for you as you serve diligently to feed, help, and heal our Haitian friends.

We will be sending money from North Webster Church of God the first of this week to help in your efforts to take God's love to the people.

May God grant you wisdom, continued favor, and may he strengthen and keep you healthy and whole, especially in mind/emotion, as the devastation and the sight of destuction and physcial death can surely be overwhelming.

Thanks for taking the HOPE of Jesus to the people ... YOU ARE THE BODY OF JESUS!

Our love and prayers are with you!

Brad ... praying for you bro as you lead your awesome staff! Love ya, man!

  3. Praying for you guys, will be giving and encouraging our church to give. I went to church with Vanessa in Fort Erie and my wife and I attended H(C)U a couple years after you guys. Keep up the awesome work! Jeremy McClung, Muskoka Community Church, Huntsville, Ontario

  4. Hey Brad,
Thank you so much for taking the time to update us. All of us from Oklahoma share (in small proportion) your joy and pain for the same reasons. So many of our kids and brothers and sisters in Haiti are in the same situation: joy for their survival and pain for the death and pain all around them. I am so encouraged that God has those who have given their lives long ago to lead up to this point and be prepared and equipped to serve in this time.

Know that we are with you in spirit and prayer and have a new website we are working on to channel giving to both MOH and our personal connections in Source Matles etc. Thank you for the original connection for us to the Haitian people.
    (in process of being updated)

Todd Ballje and all of us from Oklahoma

  5. Brad, thank you for the updates. We are praying for you and the beloved people of Haiti. I am encouraging my friends and family to pray and be generous, especially now. Has anyone seen Alfred Louis? God bless your every effort and may He provide abundantly for all needs.

  6. wow, that is amazing! thanks for sharing these updates. Please know you are not alone.
I would love to post this site to my blog so people can dirrectly see your updates.

  7. Though the fig tree should not blossom
And there be no fruit on the vines,
Though the yield of the olive should fail
And the fields produce no food,
Though the flock should be cut off from the fold and there be no cattle in the stalls,

Yet I will exult in the LORD,
I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.
The Lord GOD is my strength,
And He has made my feet like hinds' feet,
And makes me walk on my high places.
    Habb. 3:17-19

This is our prayer for MOH and the Haitian believers. Thank you for sharing that somehow, in the midst of such tragedy, pain and sorrow, praise of our Father and His Son, Jesus, is healing and sustaining the people.

Many, many prayers for you, Brad, and your staff and those who you serve.
